I attended a cultural awareness course the other day and one of the local Aboriginal
ladies was talking about her childhood. She explained that they had pets, often birds,
wallabies or dingo pups, dolls made from wood or stone and they used to hang pairs of
gourds or large seeds around their necks and poke holes in them so that they could feed
their babies. I noticed that she didn't need to qualify the 'feed' as 'breastfeed', as of
course, there is only one way to feed a baby - true?

I'm signing off Lactnet for a while, to all of you, my friends, a happy Christmas, or
other celebration, or just a peaceful holiday season. You are a constant source of
inspiration and information.
warmest wishes,
Querida
