Dear Friends,

I was at work yesterday. My hospital is called Overlook for a reason. It
overlooks the New York skyline. I watched everything live on TV from a
patient's room. From the windows all you could wee was the smoke. The
hospital was on alert all day for the victims that never came. I pray they
come today.

My older son attends Wagner College on Staten Island. The view from his dorm
room is of southern Manhattan. Classes were canceled and he and his
classmates all stood in line for hours to give blood. His mother worries
because he cannot leave the island to come home. The bridges are all closed.
The ferry is involved in the rescue effort. I need to hug him, but I know
he's safe. Friends and relatives of coworkers and neighbors worked at the
World Trade Center. Some parents of my younger son's friends in school will
not be coming home again. I dread learning the names. I will know these
people.

Thank you for all the prayers. I was supposed to be at the UN next week,
attending the Special Session on Children as a representative of ILCA. I
imagine other things will be going on there instead.

By the way, ALL our babies breastfed beautifully yesterday. I think it is
because their mothers held them close all day.

With sadness,
Kim
