I agree - I am mystified as to why it should be such a no-no!

NCT used to lend out second-hand pumps, and then we were told by our
insurers that we couldn't, because we would be liable if someone
caught an infection due to faulty cleaning. But that was because we
were an intermediary, and they were, after all, trying to think of a
worst-case scenario.....I often suggest to mothers that if they want
to try out pumps, they borrow one from a friend and just clean it
properly before using it.
