Question for all you Lactnetters. I have a coworker/friend of 28 years
old. She had a premature menopause when she was 24 years old. No one
knows why. She has since become pregnant from invitro fertilization with
an adopted embroyo. She is due in 2 months. I know they gave her shots
of hormones to enable pregnancy to occur. She is asking me about
breastfeeding. This is new territory lactnetters. Yes, she is getting
breast changes, but does she need anything to help her lactate? If yes,
what? Linda Smith, where are you and do you know? Anyone else have this
development?
Thanks,
Cheryl Muller RNC  IBCLC

State health officials warned last week that women who use
methamphetamines should think twice before breastfeeding their children.
<snip>

Rittel recommended that healthcare providers should educate new mothers
about the risks of combining drug use and breastfeeding and explain the
alternatives. However, because of the many benefits of breastfeeding,
she believes they should not deny breastfeeding education to any woman,
even those suspected of using illegal drugs.
