Yes. Obviously fresh milk is what would be best for this baby but I guess I might start with the pasteurized stuff, at least while the donors are being tested. Unfortunately, the pathologists I have asked weigh in on the side of the doctor who is worried about viruses. This little person's compromised health makes her a sitting duck for anything coming down the pike. Who knows whether it is worth risking the viruses, if fresh milk might just save the baby's life. It almost sounds as if the mother -and the doctor, if they can get him/her to do it!- need to pray about this. When God is holding the dice, we might as well as him to at least give us a hint about which way he's going to toss them.

In another few years I will finish the Mass. General Hospital Institute of Health Professions MSN program and be certified as a nurse practitioner. Can you just see me telling my patients to say two prayers and call me in the morning?

Good luck and bravo to you for the good work you're doing.

Bonny
