Re: Beta Strep--I just returned to Lactnet after  over 2 weeks away so missed
some of this dialogue.
Having lost my little 17 day old nephew to Beta Strep, I'm in favor of
screening.  the docs here have begun prophylactic antibiotics during labor in
positive moms.  In Canada, I understand that they do naso-gastric cultures,
rather than the more invasive blood screens on babies and treat accordingly.
Of course with labor antibiotics, I'm seeing more thrush....
If this prevents another family from the grief we experienced, I can live
with it.
