Does anyone know the most up to date recommendation on advising a mom to use
low or iron-fortified formula while breastfeeding? I have a mom who is
almost exclusively breastfeeding, and our nutritionist told her to use
regular iron fortified formula, her Obstetrician told her to use low iron,
and her pediatrician says it doesn't make a difference.

I feel sorry for her, because she is getting so much conflicting advice.
The knowldege I have is that a mom should use low-iron if she is
breastfeeding 50% or more of the time. What does the newest Lawrence book
say?

Thank you very much,
Brenda L. Phipps, BS, IBCLC
