This is my first post on this site, so I hope I am in the right place to
ask this question. I have been helping a mother who had plugged nipple
pores on her right breast when her baby was two months old. I suggested
warm compresses before nursing, and the plug resolved itself in a couple of
days. Now, the baby is 4 1/2 months old, and the plugs are back - she says
in a horizontal line across the middle of her nipple. She also thinks
there is a sore spot on the side of her nipple closest to the middle of her
chest, and is wondering if the baby's latch could possibly be causing the
plugged nipple pores. The long space of time between episodes is puzzling,
since one would not expect a latch problem to come and go over such a
length of time. I will be seeing her tomorrow to have a look at the baby's
latch, and I'd appreciate any information I could share. This is her
second child, BTW, no problems the first time, and she is feeling very
frustrated. Thank you!

Ingrid Tilstra
