Hello,

This is my first post to the list. I am an LLL Leader and childbirth educator in the Boston area. In response to the discussion about omega 3's, I knew a mom who was pumping and found that her breastmilk, even when frozen, spoiled within a week. She traced it to high intake of flax in her diet; when she reduced the flax, the problem went away. It would seem to make sense, given that flax oil goes rancid rapidly, but I am wondering if anyone else has come across this. I searched the archives and found only positive references to flax. I have no idea exactly how much flax she was taking in (though I believe her that it was a lot) and whether it was seeds, oil, or both.

Ann Marie
