Similac has a new NICU admission package for new NICU parents. The zippered black bag includes a freezer pouch with EBM storage bottles & freezer pack plus a journal (really nice one even though I hate that it comes from a formula company) for the parent to write in stuff about their baby’s journey in the NICU. In the section that speaks about breastfeeding & pumping for their NICU baby, there are several photos. Two of the photos in the journal show a hospital grade Symphony pump in the background & another has a photo of the Medela breastpump cone attached to the bottle, tubing, etc. I didn’t think Medela would be too happy about their pump being depicted in a formula company’s parent handout considering all the trouble they have been fighting with WHO code compliance. I know this is nothing Medela did but think it’s terrible for Similac (or any artificial milk manufacturer) to put pics of breast pumps in their advertising materials.
