We have a small problem at our hospital. During RSV season in the winter,
no children age 12 or younger may come onto patient floors. That includes
nursing babies when mom is hospitalized.

Mom's solution: she goes down to the public lobby to visit with the entire
family. Sometimes she BF's baby down there. Then she returns to her
hospital room. Most of our rooms have 4 beds and there is usually at least
one roommate. We do wait until all rooms have 2 patients before assigning
the other beds.

So where's the protection for patients against RSV? How can you tell a
mother she can't go where she wants to in public areas of the hospital?

I need to put this poser-question to management. Anyone else deal with this?
