I've finally located a chiropractor (and breastfeeding mother) here in
Puerto Rico! She saw the mom and baby I wrote about earlier and did some
adjustments today - mom was so worried she brought the baby right over to
see how she would breastfeed. Well, baby was very sleepy, so I did not see
a "hungry" breastfeeding baby, but she did latch on and nurse casually,
took 1 ounce in 20 minutes, but was not really sucking and swallowing the
way I'd like - on the other hand, she wasn't clamping either!

Now - this baby started crying in the office and I heard a very coarse
throat - not her usual cry, but rather throaty. Mom had come in because
the breasts and nipples were getting sore and she was blaming the pump -
but there was evidence of thrush on her nipples - but nothing on baby's
mouth and tongue - could the voice be affected by thrush? I'm not a doctor
(see my initials) so I didn't want to look any further than what I could
see as the baby voluntarily opened her mouth.

Mom had been using a nipple shield to protect the nipples because of the
clamping - now she feels she needs to use it to protect them because they
are so sore!
