I have seen two cases of nipples where milk could not come out. In both
these cases the mothers admitted (after much probing) to breast surgery:
they did not like the shape of their nipples so they had them cut. One said
her nipples drooped...another one said they were too long...Neither one was
able to breastfeed and they did suffer severe engorgement until cabbage
leaves were used and no more stimulation was done to their breasts. We
consulted with a breast specialist (plastic surgeon) who said she could try
to open up the ducts by inserting ?(sorry here I do not know the word you
would use in English for this thin wire used to drain a wound such as an
abcess????). Maybe drains??Anyway, a few of these would be inserted to try
to keep the ducts open once they were pierced. The specialist said it would
be painfull...mother would not be able to tolerate breastfeeding for awhile,
and she could not garantee they would stay open. By what I understood from
your post, this mom probably has blocked nipple pores, wether from birth, or
caused by something else. But the fact remains that she could maybe
breastfeed the next baby if she gets surgery done while not lactating. But
even then, it seems the success of this kind of surgery is quite unsure.
