Hi all,
Guess not a very appealing subject line. Sorry about that.
Spoke to a mom three weeks ago. Baby was having green, mucousy, foul smelling stools. Also noticed some blood. We discussed dairy and soy elimination diet. She called back today. Has been on the diet for 3 weeks. Baby is happy, growing, but the stools remain the same, except no blood. She said that since we last spoke, her Pediatrician, did a stool culture. It came back C dif. She said that she was told that it is common for young babies to culture C dif and nothing was done. she spoke to a Ped gastroenterologist office. They said they did not want to see the baby as he is happy and gaining. If this continues to age 6 months they will see him. He is now 6 weeks.
Anyone have any ideas? I certainly thought 3 weeks of dairy and soy elimination should be long enough to see improvement, but I encouraged her to continue one more week. I also mentioned maybe checking out another Ped Gastro doc in another city. Does not seem to be an oversupply issue.
