Before I had the privilege of serving in my current post, I thought the same, maybe the supportive care is the most important, and I see that it is very significant here, but here moms compare machines for themselves due to loaning/insurance/availability of various sizes and brands and very often report that certain rental size pumps produce a better outcome for them. In a setting where long term outcomes are critical, milk expression is necessary and stress/time/low self care impact the outcome, it seems to me that using (while respecting individuality & per circumstances) the most consistent tools may be a supportive thing to do, in addition to all of the other supportive measures. Also, when we talk about pumping & massage, do you all think that there is more benefit from partner massage while pumping than self massage when it is available?
Back to the provision of appropriate pumps, what might be the most effective and appropriate way to communicate with someone at a large insurance company? Meanwhile I'll work on pulling up the reviewed studies that apply to this situation, since the Review recommends not using the statements out of context of the studies. I wonder if they know that women make most healthcare decisions for families, including coverage, and the seriously 'bad taste' that these denials leave behind. Thank you for your help. I wouldn't be able to so this work without Lactnet and you all.
Judy
