A heartfelt thanks to all who have posted analogies for my reflection.
Whilst I will not use any of the examples I do like the concept.

Whilst planting my cabbages this morning I had what I hope was an inspiration.....

If we see babies as seeds we will see better germination where the soil is well manured and prepared [? antenatal / preconceptual maternal vitamins]
After sprouting all seeds are roughly equal [as with babies this is a generalisation as some will have inherent defects or be sick].
The seeds which will grow best will be those which are fertilised [BF] whilst those which are merely watered [formula] will grow less strongly. If we fertilise originally and then only water there will still be advantages - but ALL will still grow and be productive [sadly the analogy is a generalisation and I have had some seeds which I pretty well neglected which provided more than those I cosset - again allowing for some formula fed babies to be geniuses or sports stars etc]. I'm just hoping nobody then throws in the argument about GM seeds - or asks why weeds do so darned well!!!
