Betsy,
This is similar to what I say. I also like to tell women that every time the
baby goes to breast they make milk & the amount of milk the baby takes in a
24 hr period is the amount of milk her body knows to make in the next 24 hrs.
So if they supplement with 2 oz. of formula, that is 2 oz. of milk that her
body doesn't know that the baby needs.

I also see many women of Asian origin, as well as Hispanics, that say "no
milk." How can people believe that God would make a system that doesn't
work? Of course it works! It works alot better if we don't interfere with it.
I had one dad last week who would not trust what I had to say about
breastfeeding. His baby was less than 24 hrs old, the Dr. said to feed the
baby every 2 hrs and the baby hadn't eaten for 6 hrs. He wanted a bottle. Not
surprisingly, they had to supplement their 1st child also! Then there are
the women of various ethnic origins who say they have no milk because they
never saw any leaking during pregnancy & sqeeze their nipples a couple of
times and don't see anything.

It can be so frustrating! Thank goodness we sometimes see a woman that we
helped who went on to feed successfully for many months or years.
