The Journal Article Discussion group will soon begin, and we will have it
directly on Lactnet, since there seems to be a lot of interest. We have had
over 70 requests to be involved, and seeing as there is great interest, we
hope to enliven the Lactnet discussion with professional discussion of a
main research article, with adjunct discussion of related articles.

There will be a main topic, a main article that will be outlined and
abstracted by a volunteer. The main topic for our first discussion will be :

Markers of Lactation Insufficiency: A Study of 34 Mothers, Current Issues in
Clinical Lactation, 2000, by Kathleen Huggins RN MS CLC, Ellen S. Petok, BS,
IBCLC, and Olga Mireles, RNC, CLC.

Jeanne Brotherton, RN, IBCLC will present an analysis of this article soon.

Related articles may be brought into the discussion.

Guidelines:

You may join into the discussion only if you have READ THE ARTICLE, or if
you have read the related articles that are brought into the discussion. If
you need copies of articles, you must purchase the journal, or go to the
library and make your one allowable copy. Do not FAX articles, or copy
outside of copyright laws.

We encourage articles that have been published in medical journals, as well
as lactation journals.

As soon as Jeanne is ready, she will send her note and abstract, to begin
the discussion. Anyone who has not READ the article is welcome to listen
in, but please don't comment if you haven't, asking for more details...as
this is a participatory discussion. One of the goals of this discussion is
to help us all understand research articles and critical reading skills.

Other Lactnet discussion can continue throughout this discussion.
