Hi Charity,
When you stated the "green frothy stools" more often than not, have you
thought about a bit of formilk/hindmilk imbalance. Since this baby is living off
of the letdown and run off, sounds like he isn't getting any of the deep milk
that may help calm his stomach. I have had cases of green frothy's that were
so severe and baby's stomach so distended due to the vicious circle of going
to the breast for comfort/relief only to get more milk...poor little people they
want the breast for comfort only to get more and more, I use the blocked
feeding method and it has always worked, sometimes moms use one breast for
3 feeds in a row. I realize there is more to this than just the stools, and
gassiness but I bet that is the reason why its happening. (the green stools)
Could mom try pumping out several ounces and give baby the fatest part of
the milk? Again, this is only one of the many things that are going on and
most important is to figure out why he isn't sucking.

Would it be too far fetched to suggest he is getting all he needs and more by
being so passive that he doesn't want to latch and nurse because it bothers
his tummy? Since he never really seems to go a stretch without constantly
having something in his stomach, ie, sleeping and slurping all night, might you
check this out. Leave him off the breast for 3 or 4 hours and see if using
higher fat milk would help. Either from mom or the bottle? Just a thought..
I'm probably way off but the thought did enter my mind??

best of luck,
robin
