Hello,
I had lasik surgery last October and was breastfeeding my then
8-month-old. The opthomologist said it didn't matter as long as my
periods had returned and were regular. In fact, I nursed Zoe in the
waiting room just before I went in for the surgery. My eyes are great -
20/20 and 20/25 now. I would tell your client to either find someone
else to do the surgery or put it off until after weaning. I think that
finding someone else, and telling them why, would be better, because
people tend to listen more closely when money is involved (my surgery
was nearly $5,000.00 for both eyes). If they think they're losing money
over this, then maybe they'll educate themselves and update their policy
to accomodate their nursing clients. E-mail me privately for the name
of the center where I had it done; they have clinics all over the
country.
