Hello all:
Recently there was discussion about a mother presenting with chronic breast
pain (r/o plugged duct, yeast, mastitis). I saw a mother in the clinic last
week with c/o generalized breast pain. The infant was 7 days old - mom's
milk had come in by her report 5 days earlier. Upon exam her breasts did not
appear to be unusually engorged, no significant lumps, no trauma to the
nipples. Infant latched well, positive signs of adequate intake. She called
me today and stated that the pain has not subsided - even clothing, her bra
causes her discomfort. She discribes the pain as aching - not burning -
occasionally shooting, but not associated with MER. I recall a similar case
several weeks ago in a woman who had fibromyalgia. This mom denies any such
condition. Does anyone have any suggestions on this one. Would appretiate
your imput.
Thanks
