This is a question from a mom - Does anyone have any information or
experience with this?

"this is a somewhat obscure topic(thankfully!) my ds is 13 months old and
will need a kidney transplant within a year. he's on dialysis now, his
health situation is a big long story, but i'm hoping that there's someone
who might point me in the right direction for learning about breastfeeding
through transplant. i want to go to his nephrologists(kidney docs)armed
with info. about this(i've already gotten some very subtle pressure to wean-
i think because nursing past a year is unfamiliar to them)the first thing
that comes to mind for me is whether breastmilk, with its immune building
properties might be harmful to someone whose immune system basicly needs to
be wiped out initially to prevent rejection. the other issue is that i'll
be the donor.any thoughts?"
