Thanks to everyone, Kathleen, Norma, who replied to my Q. about obesity in
BFD infants. I found out that this mother's two older children who weighed
30, 31 lbs. at age one are not obese at all now. I think this mom has been
more concerned about this one because he has gained more weight than the
first two and he was hypoglycemic at birth ( the hospital had her use an SNS
with ABM to help bring up the blood sugar - this instead of sugar water.)
She has precipitous births and was a borderline gestational diabetic during
a previous preg. Perhaps she has retained worried feelings about this child
who in other respects is fine. He is 26.5 inches long and she was told he
has the developmental age of a six month old. They took an x-ray of his hand
to determine this.

She also has a history of allergies to legumes, some metals. I talked to her
& we discussed the possiblity of allergic/food sensitivities influencing a
possible inc. in his nursing for relief or physical comfort in reaction to
sensitvites.

I saw the Jack Newman article last night at the library. The journal is
$4.95 and not only is the color picture on the cover a beautiful painting of
a nursing couple, the article is accompanied by a chart and sidebar and
appealing illustrations which are not part of the on-line article. More
reasons to purchase this issue.

How do we get LACTNET t-shirts?!
