And what kind of sophisticated tests did he do to determine this?

Kudos to her for standing up under the pressure. If she wants dramatic
results for her husband and the pedi, she can try the
rice/squash/pears/lamb diet. If you think she's tougher than that :),
and since it sounds like the baby isn't really uncomfortable, have her
think about what she has been eating in excess. With a new baby, it is
so much easier to graze from the fridge and sacrifice variety for
convenience. If she is grabbing something easy and it's the same thing
several times per day, that may be the culprit. If she stashed away
frozen meals ahead of time, many based on the same ingredients (where
you make and freeze several dishes based on the same protein for ease of
preparation), that could be it. Lots of babies have trouble with
citrus, which hits the milk as quickly as 30 minutes after drinking.

In my case, I don't eat dairy, but all the nice people who brought
casseroles inevitably used cream of whatever soups for a binder. My
mother helped a friend do some detective work with her baby, and it
turned out that she had been drinking a lot of soda (?!?), I guess to
combat fatigue, and that was the problem. She didn't consider it
"food," so she didn't think to eliminate it.
