"doesn't sunscreen (and for
that matter covering up) older babies and children prevent them from
getting enough vitamin D? This is, according to the media and "medical"
reports I've been reading, a problem in Canada, especially with
dark-complected children. This is what I gathered from Jack's book, as
well as the media. What should I be telling moms of darker babies (like
me)?"

I was under the impression that 20 minutes 3 times a week on even just the
back of the hand was enough (I believe it is a tad longer for darker skinned
people, and I believe geared more to Africans etc then native people... but
I could be wrong). So, if this is the case, covering up should not be a big
deal I would think. If the older baby/toddler is nursing, it should be even
better, am I right??
