Jean describes a pattern that I, too, use in these oversupply cases. I know of some women who had to go up to a night and a day breast, thus leaving 12 hours in between and even incidentially a day 1 and day 2 breast, thus actually leaving 24 hours in between. Nowadays I prefer to use small amounts of sagetea to help reduce the milksupply, especially when I suspect hyper-prolactine issues.
Now, what works even better for me is to have mom drain her breasts with a double pump *once* as completely as she can and than have the baby finish both breasts. This will probably be the first time the baby will feel really satisfied without being overfed. Than go on with, as I call it, ''block feeding'', leaving 3-4-5-6- hours in between changing to the other side but feeding the baby as frequently as he wants, preferably small feeds with short intervals. Some moms will have to repeat the complete emptying at stretching intervals. This reduces the plugging risk.

Warmly,

Gonneke,
