Yes, fungal sepsis can be fatal in prematures.  However, the
neonatologist is not going to suggest that, with all the antibiotics
used in NICU's, that Candida albicans is not all over the place
anyhow?

Furthermore, there is a huge difference between having Candida in
milk, from which it is extremely unlikely the baby will get infection
(he's probably colonized with the stuff anyway), and having a catheter
in a blood vessel for days or weeks at a time.  It is easy enough to
culture the milk for Candida.  If it's not there, there is no worry.
If it is, I would still say there is no worry.

The baby is far better off getting the milk.
