Hi Shirley,   It has been a while since I worked in the NICU but I don't
remember ever checking triglyceride levels. I suspect that this was done for
these babes only d/t the suspicion that the increased fat would increase
these levels but as my old neonatologist often said "why test something if
you don't know what you are going to do with the result?" (or something like
that.... :)
Were the levels of the all of the babies checked for comparison? There have
been many references citing increased levels in breastfed children but that
fact has always led to "now what do we do witht this info" types of
questions. I would think that Paula Meir might be interested in your
questions.
 As for length of time for refrigeration, the current references that I work
from cite 5-7 days, not 48 hrs.
