I don't know that a sippy cup would be wise, if
*sucking pressure* is the concern post-tonsillectomy.
We use sippy cups for our kids' nighttime water (no
spills even if they get knocked over, and no middle of
the night calls for water; mission accomplished!).

My four year-old nursling exerts very little pressure
at breast, but give her a sippy cup and she sucks HARD
at it, to get the water past the resistance of the
valve.  My vote is to just put the baby to breast...
