Hi. This is my first response to something posted on LactNet, so I may
not be following form.

I've just been reading "So That's What They're For! Breastfeeding
Basics" by Janet Tamaro. On page 216, it has a section about moms
worried about envirnmental toxins..

It says: "...in spite of environmental pollutants,... there is nothing
you can make, even if it has normal environmental toxins, that is
superior to breastmilk. Studies have shown that environmental toxins
don't usually interfere with your ability to produce good, safe
breastmilk."

It goes on to say that you can make breastmilk as safe as possible by
watching what you eat, and trying to find organic produce.

Finally, she says, "If you believe you've been exposed to a harmful
toxin, you can contact your state department of health and get your milk

tested."
