Baby isn't at breast at all for food -- he'll go on briefly for

Hmm, things just aren't simple, are they?
If the baby has a tongue=tie that compromises breastfeeding ( nothing but
normal feeding, right?) are other feeding methods a challenge too? It seems manu
babies with tongue-tie have trouble feeding no matter what the type is: at
breast, at bottle, with fingerfeeder etc. It seems that often not only can they
not latch at breast, they can't control milk flow well, lose milk, etc, with
feeding assistive devices too. If the baby doesn't stay latched, do we know
whether he is reacting to the lack of fast flow, which he could handle if it were
there with a good supply/good let-down, or is he just really not able to latch
well enough to transfer milk? Does a faster flow with a
supplementer./fingerfeeder at breast, with or without a NS make the feedings better, worse or
unchanged? That might help illuminate whether and to what degree the lack of
staying power at breast is primary or reactive, if that makes any sense to anyone at
nearly 2 AM...:)
Jan, this family is so lucky you are part of it!
