Sounds like the author of these dubious books and articles might be in cahoots with the author stateside who has claimed that "most lactation consultants are not aware of the new paradigms in breastfeeding" or some such hooey... sigh...at least such things are getting talked about.. we are, after all, bucking a belief system that has been in place to some degree since the late 1800's, early 1900's... 

re: babies sleeping through the night - at our last LLL meeting, 3 of the babies, all well fed, were sleeping through the night (6-8 hours) by 4-5 weeks.. all of them cluster fed before their long sleep.. someone pointed out that one just cannot have it all :>)

Celina D, thinking its all perhaps just good training for menopause.. when we're up half the night all by ourselves with no sweet baby to snuggle..
