Just need to comment here - about:

( Mom also slept in a chair for the first 2 months

>this?)

I slept in a chair for the first few months with my second child. And he
needed to be held constantly. Would sleep only for 1/2 hour without being
on my body.

There can be many reasons for this that are not just normal baby needs. The
foods I was eating were a direct culprit in my problem. Once I eliminated
all dairy products (including hidden dairy -casein, whey and made sure the
natural flavors didn't have dairy in it (calling the company is the only
way...)) he calmed down alot. Once I took all the foods out of my diet that
bothered him (gluten, egg) I had a new baby on my hands. (Keep in mind that
I now know that I have a problem with these foods...) He would sleep without
being on me. He didn't need to be held 24 hours a day. People would comment
that he was the happiest baby they'd ever seen. (Of course, a week earlier
they could have said the exact opposite).

If this mother has a problem with food sensitivities, she would be well
advised to look at the problem before she weans and starts solids.

In helping her, one might ask questions to determine whether there are other
signs of allergy... sharing with her the normalcy of being a demanding baby
while also sharing with her some of the symptoms of an allergic baby may help.

Liz
