I have worked as a full-time Labor/Delivery RN for 28 years and have been
an IBCLC for 8 years. During that time, my employer has "allowed" me to
submit for payment for "breast feeding" hours worked outside of my regular
schedule.
The employer has finally recognized the need to establish a formal position
and have offered me .5 FTE to provide a Lacation Consultant service to a
small rural Regional Hospital. The position will also service 2 small rural
Community Hospitals and several Community Health Services within the
Region.
I would appreciate any assistance in beginning the process for
establishing "a program". I see myself as a resource and educator for
health care professionals, providing case management for complex
situations.
I have found some job descriptions already but wonder if those working in a
similar situation (small town Canada, USA) would share a snap shot of what
your service looks like e.g. documentation forms, referral process, data
collection criteria, policies, procedures etc.. Or, are there journal
articles, book resources, etc... that I could purchase? You can e-mail me.
