Hi,

Sam gives a good suggestion, I would say, but if the mom doesn't (want to)
feed, is it safe to keep the milk in the way you propose, Kim...?
Urine is a waste product and will be thrown away, when either the bag is
full or the night turns into day.
If she would sleep through the night and not notice her drip milk, that milk
could easily be in that collection bag for hours and hours.
Is that milk we would still encourage the mom to give to the baby...?
And apart from the hygiene, isn't drip milk usually fairly low in fat
content?
Thinking about all of this... I would expect the breasts to merely leak so
much when they are very full and mom and baby are not (yet) in synch.
Am I wrong...? Full leaky breasts don't seem to fit with what you say:
struggle with production.
Hmmm... how simple questions can start off your brain... hahaha.

Warmly,

Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands
