There's been some "research" floating around lately in the popular press
that breastfeeding does cause allergies. Here's a sample from a freebie
parenting magazine: "Food allergens eaten by lactating mothers have been
found in muniute quantities in their breat milk. It is believed that many
infants who have allergic reactions on their first known ingestion of
food were actually sensitized by previous exposure to small amounts of
food allergen in their mother's breast milk." (Of course, the article
doesn't mention that these babies will also be exposed to the food
allergens when they are given ABM!!) Also, I recall some researcher on
peanut allergies drawing the same conclusion.

So, mom reads such stuff and says, oh, I better not breastfeed.
