I hope it goes without saying (but obviously I'm going to say it, anyway!)
that *pregnant* women should not leave us with the impression that alcohol
use, even in moderation, is acceptable.

As the mother of three (adopted) fetal alcohol affected children, I live
with the irreversible, far-reaching, and life-long effects. I used to take
heart that none had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome with its obvious facial defects.
Now I know that the brain can be devasted without any outward physical
signs, and that the mother does not have to have ever been drunk during the
pregnancy.

I'm sorry if this is off-topic. I didn't breastfeed them and have no
experience with FAS or FAE babies at the breast.

who is no teetotaler but who wishes there were room in her life for another
soapbox
