May I recommend "Enabling women to breastfeed" by Mary Renfrew, Mike
Woolridge and Helen Ross McGill? ISBN 0-11-321873-7
They identify key practice areas for professionals working with
breastfeeding women, and area B is "professional assistance with positioning
and attachment" while area C is "pain-free, effective feeding". Both these
areas are documentably vital to successful breastfeeding, and inattention to
them is responsible for inestimable suffering on the part of mothers and
babies alike.

Actions by those caring for mother and baby immediately post partum have
huge consequences, and such staff need to be aware of that.

The book contains all the references you'd want to use. Effective, painless
latch is the cornerstone of all good practice related to the early days.
