Nola and all.... I'm a bit behind on my digests, but I wanted to write
to support your suggestion that Mom be patient in the process of getting
baby back to breast. I've worked with two Moms who bottlefed breastmilk
for the first 3-4 weeks before baby latched. (Their choice to bottle
feed... both felt they couldn't deal with other methods on a 8-10
feeding a day basis). In both of these cases, Mom tried daily to get
babe to latch at a time when she felt patient enough to attempt it.
Finally, close to the one month of age mark, each of these babies
remarkably and joyously latched!!! Both Moms went on to nurse for over
a year.:) I love happy endings!
