Hi Joan,

I was interested in your comment regarding the infant becoming confused when
inappropriately supplemented with the soft eye dropper. An infant presented
to our center last week who appeared confused and who had not been given a
bottle. This one had never nursed well and parents were given the Medela
soft cup feeder in the hospital so they could cup feed mother's pumped milk.
They were also given our number in case things did not shape up. This was
my first case of nipple confusion on the cup--or is it cup-confusion!
Apparently the infant sucked on the soft rim of the cup feeder.
I suspect that the parents were too overwhelmed while in the hospital to
learn correct cup feeding.
