well, obviously the baby had the pacifier in it's mouth before it fell
asleep. so it hasn't been screaming himself to sleep -> like with
"ferberizing". maybe that's the main point, as i believe there are
still so many babys out there who've been left alone in a crib (as
recommended by pediatricians) in "their own" rooms and only a few who
are being put to sleep by a maximum dose of TLC.

maybe sucking in general helps to prevent SIDS. but i believe that
children who can nurse ad libitum get to suck much more than
bottle-fed babys. and if we like it or not, the bottle-fed kids are
the majority and are being seen as the "norm".
