Have you had these? Over time they discolor, grow sticky. The valves
leak. They have a hard side and a soft side. The Haberman regular
nipple works fine. The shorter mini-Haberman nipple is firmer and more
difficult to maneuver. The biggest problem with Haberman's is the
expense. My granddaughter (4.5 months old) was unable to use a bottle
at all, very frustrating to her with her extremely high palate and short
tongue. She can breastfeed extremely well (mom has great supply even
though previously inverted nipples.) She is able to use the Haberman so
mom can get away occasionally for a class. It's a tool and it allows my
d-i-l to have a little time for herself away from 5 home-schooling,
challenging kids! I learned how useful Habermans were several years ago
and I think they are wonderful tools.

Subject: Pigeon nipples

These are especially for babies with poor suck but good enough
compression skills--e.g. cleft palates (remember that most cleft lip
babies do well with breastfeeding)
Find pigeon nipples at: www.childmed.com or www.resperonics.com
or call 1-800-345-6443

Some preemies might do well on these, since the nipple is softer than
the Haberman, and they may be a stepping stone to appropriate feeding at
the breast.
I wonder if any NICUs are using these?
