Would appreciate hearing an update on this mother's drop in milk supply. In regard to her use of a pump, many mothers report turning off a pump when the first flow of milk stops, and these mothers benefit from encouragement to stimulate at least 2 to 3 milk releases per pumping toward reaching their goals for volume. In regard to "drying up," this phrase may infer to the mother (if used in discussion with the mother) that an irreversible process is underway. This is highly unlikely, so would gently caution against using this phrase in favor of a more positive one, such as "a temporary drop in production". Has the mother started a method of hormonal contraception? Please keep us posted - -
