Dear Lactnetters
I am working with a Mom who is 10 days post C-section, whose milk has not
yet come in. She reports that her infant had nursed well for the first 4
days, though her milk had not come in at that time and she started
supplementing after each feeding, in addition to pumping( with a hospital
grade electric pump) . At six days, she began taking fenugreek in addition to
continued pumping, though the infant would no longer go to breast and Mom did
not want to use an SNS. Now at 10 days post partum she is only getting about
10 cc. breast milk per breast.
Mom was very edematous post C-section with 4+ pedal edema. She remains
somwhat edematous in her abdomen, but has lost 24 #, which I am sure was
mainly fluid. She is only taking Ibuprofen for pain. Her breasts did increase
one cup size during pregnancy.
I am wondering if any of you have any ideas that I might have missed that
could help this Mom.Thank you so much in advance.
