I agree Jay.

Neither of my girls would allow us to swaddle them.  I tried, because
everyone said it was good for them, but both would take about 30 seconds
to free their hands and arms, and another 30 seconds to free their feet
and legs.  I figured they knew what they liked.  But then, I won't sleep
in a sleeping bag because I don't like how it makes me feel...

That said, I have known a few babies where swaddling helped them to
organize themselves better, which helped them to nurse or simply settle.
 But I think this is the exception.  Most babies seem to like the skin
to skin--which you can't have with swaddling....

But swaddling aside, I wish your third paragraph would become common
knowledge.
