Agenda:
ADDITION OF INGREDIENTS NEW TO INFANT FORMULA
WORKSHOP SPONSORED BY
Committee on the Evaluation of the Addition of Ingredients New to Infant
Formula
Food and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine
Washington, DC
May 1, 2002................

I visited this website, found the list of speakers and topics for this
meeting, and a link to answer a request for feedback on this project. This
is the message I sent:

With a list of presenters who have such strong ties to the groups who stand
to
make the most profit from the approval and wide-spread use of new additions
to
infant formula, how can you hope to learn objective, factual, unbiased,
fully
disclosed information at this meeting?

This is the reply I received from Sandra Schlicker:

Thank you for your concern about the May 1 Infant Formula Workshop. Please
note
that the workshop is open to all and that there will be an open session at
the
end of the workshop for other presenters to present information to the
committee. Please let me know if you or anyone else would like to present
information during the open forum on May 1. Also, the committee would
appreciate receiving any scientific articles or reference that you think may
be
useful to them and names of speakers that they may want to invite to future
meetings. Please feel free to send me any information and suggestions for
speakers that the committee may want to invite to future committee meetings.

Anybody care to get back to her with information? Just visit the website
for contact information. I am not able to continue this communication with
her, but this is an opportunity for others in Lactnet land to at least make
a statement and support it with information that they may not get from their
other sources.
