Magda,
That bit about the different composition of hand-expressed vs pumped milk
is very intriguing.  Where can I learn more about the actual
differences?  (Like which produces more sodium?)
Please, everyone who teaches hand expression, keep those comments
coming.  As I understand it, maybe double-sided fully automatic electric
pumps are often considered the pinnacle of expression and milk maintenance
because they're the most reliably effective *pumps*, but I see here on
Lactnet that some LCs in other regions find hand expression with its skin
to skin contact is not only the economical choice but actually beats
pumping in their experience.  I am very interested in this and want to hear
more about its efficacy for term newborns, preemies, long-term milk supply
protection if the baby isn't going to the breast, etc.
