From your description, and your intuition that something is just not right
(which I can 'hear' in your post), I would concur that a distinct
possibility exists that there is an anomaly. This anomaly, if it does indeed
exist, would possibly not be detected (at least not at this time) but for
the oversupply/OAMER. What you could try is a controlled finger feeding
(this eliminates the OAMER) or a controlled slow-flow bottle feeding.
Observing this feeding may give you some more information.
