The answer to this question will be state-specific and one she will need researched by her lawyer. In most U.S. states, breastfeeding need not be taken into consideration in making a custody consideration. But how this child's needs are best met in this particular custody situation in that jurisdiction isn't a question that could be answered by a lawyer who isn't local and working directly with the mother. If from your greeting I can guess you are in Hawaii (??) I do recall that Hawaii was one of few states that did mention breastfeeding in its custody statute

Sorry, not a very satisfying answer. :(

Yours,
Jake
