Thought you might like to hear what I just found out.

Client, 1st time mom, desperately wants to BF her baby, but for some reason
her supply just keeps crashing.  She's lucky if she gets 1 oz total per
pumping, and she is struggling to keep that up.
She went in for her 6wk check up.  NP looks at her chart, and sees that mom
was precribed something she shouldn't have been.  NP asks mom, are you BF?
 Mom says yeah, but having probs with supply.  NP asks why she is taking FULL
COMBO BC PILLS!  Mom says, Dr said they were OK, and prescribed them the day
she was discharged, and gave orders to start taking right away.  NP tells mom
this is why her supply is in the garbage, and she will order lower dose pills
(not sure if she means mini-pill or low dose estrogen).
Mom calls me, and says HELP!  What do I do???  Well, Now I finally know why
her supply is the pits.  She never mentioned it to me because she thought it
was OK since the DR told her it was.  I told her no more hormonal BC,
regardless of the doseage, start herbs ASAP, and PRAY her supply comes back
in.  Also, COMPLIAN to patient assistance NOW, and LOUDLY.  She knows that
her supply may not come back in full, baby is already refusing breast 'cause
there isn't anything there for him, and he hates SNS.  Mom is LIVID!!  She
desperately wanted to BF this baby and is furious that this Dr decided to
take it upon himself to make sure she didn't get pregnant right away!  Of
course she is a low-income, welfare mom.
Does anyone have any other info that could help this moms supply in addition
to what I have recommended?
Fun stuff here in Sacramento, huh?  I just love the hosps around here.  No
wonder I am having a home birth this time!

Who is sick of others trying to play God, and decide who will and who won't
have babies, and screwing around with women's bodies in dangerous ways, and
forcing babies to be on ABM when they shouldn't have to be.  Who gave them
the right to try and save healthcare $$ this way?  Don't they understand that
they cost more in healthcare $$ by doing this, forcing babies onto ABM, and
putting them into the Drs office countless times for illnesses that could
have been prevented?  I guess not!
